The annual Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards, were held on 22nd November at the Intercontinental O2 in London. We’re excited to announce that the Aberdeen-Bahir Dar Knowledge Exchange Partnership was nominated for the International Health Partnership Award! Over the last three years, The Soapbox Collaborative and NHS Grampian have worked with Felege Hiwot Referral Hospital (FHRH) and Bahir Dar University towards improving quality care and infection prevention and control. We have developed the partnership in many ways including supporting the development of audit and research capabilities within FHRH, to carrying out needs assessments and bilateral sharing of clinical and managerial skills.
Throughout this time, the hospital has seen many improvements around quality care and infection prevention and in April 2016 won the award for the Best Performing Hospital in Ethiopia.
While we missed the prize on the night, we were delighted to have been nominated alongside several prestigious contenders and would like to pass on our congratulations to the winners, The Butabika – East London Link, along with our fellow nominees.
